Residual Market

Buy a Merchant Portfolio

Buy with a clear acquisition thesis

A residual portfolio is more than its current monthly payout. Buyers need to understand how earnings are calculated, whether relationships can be assigned and how merchant retention may change after a transfer. Set a budget and a diligence plan before reviewing an opportunity.

Define your criteria

Consider your preferred processors, target monthly residual range, merchant count, geographic coverage and industry mix. Decide whether you want a partial residual interest, an entire book or a payment business. These structures carry different obligations and must be specified in any agreement.

Review what drives durable earnings

Reconcile historical residual reports to actual receipts. Examine contractual deductions, clawbacks, reserves, attrition and concentration. A book with a large number of merchants can still be exposed to one unusually profitable account. Ask which services or relationships depend on the current owner.

Access follows review

Register your acquisition criteria for administrator review. Account confirmation verifies control of an email address; it does not independently establish a buyer’s funding, identity or qualifications. Opportunity access is granted separately.
